New Kurt Angle DVD by TNA

It seems that TNA is going to release a new DVD, based on Kurt Angle. It will be called "Kurt Angle: Champion" and the official release date is November 25th. As far as I saw, the DVD will feature details about the life of Kurt Angle and his Olympic medal years. There are around 3 hours of special features and full matches. You will also get looks at behind the scenes moments and basically a look at Kurt Angle, one of the best wrestlers ever. We can not deny the skill that Kurt brings to the ring and he is truly one of the best wrestlers in the business today. He has been over 20 times a world champion and that says something. You can back order this DVD and I already did. It should be a really interesting one and it will be nice to learn more about Angle and his job combined with his personal life. Contract Updates on Top TNA Superstars

In tonight's TNA House Show in New York City, Team 3d asked the audience what company they should re-sign with? TNA or the Other Company (WWE of course)? This basically means that Team 3D re-signed with TNA as they would never pulls such a stunt unless the wrestlers would have already signed the contract.

Now talking about Christian Cage and Kevin Nash it seems there is a 50-50 chance that they would resign with TNA. The most important factor seems to be whether or not the WWE is interested in giving them contracts. It seems that Kevin Nash is wanted by the WWE to stand in as a bodyguard for Shawn Michaels, thus counteracting Lance Cade for Chris Jericho. The main problem with Nash is that he is limited when talking about wrestling and the TNA schedule is perfect for him as he can rest enough between matches. This is rarely achievable in WWE.

We all know that Christian Cage did not leave on good terms from the WWE. The good news is that this happen a while ago and time does heal all wounds. Cage is personally feeling that a move to the WWE would be better for him as he would get pushed more. On the other hand I do have a feeling that he did get an extra push in the recent weeks as given the Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles feud and the fact that Kurt is in that 4-way main event for the title and AJ Styles fought Christian Cage for the qualificiation (Cage won it) it would have made more sense for AJ Styles to be in that one.

Mick Foley Jumps Wagon

I never thought I would see this but hey, another top WWE superstar looks like is going to TNA. Some of the best including Booker T, Christian Cage, Team 3D and Kurt Angle are already on the TNA roster. The latest indication that Mick Foley is a member of TNA now stands in the fact that he is no longer available on the WWE.com web site and various inside sources in TNA state that merchandise for Mick Foley have already started being created. Although this is weird and unexpected it is still a surprise. WWE got Gail Kim and Ron Killings from TNA (among others) and TNA brings in Mick Foley. I am really curious to see how he will be implemented in the system. Every wrestling fan out there is curios whether or not Mick Foley will start wrestling again or not, that is quite a question that should be answered as soon as the possible clauses in the WWE contract allow TNA to take advantage of Foley. One thing is for sure: Mick Foley will get a standing ovation by TNA fans, although he does not necessarily fit the pattern in the company. Then again, TNA started to forget about the X-Division and how that got them on the map. Still, a Mick Foley return in the wrestling ring would be something (if he is still able to wrestle properly).

The real problem is that this move might have Mick Foley not be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame. This would totally be a shape because he has done so much for the company. Just remember that Hell in a Cell match against the Undertaker and what happened there. Mick said it was the best match in his life but even The Undertaker thought his career was over. UPDATE - 01 September 2009

At a recent Cleveland Indians game Mick Foley attended in order to throw the opening pitch. During an interview Foley said that he did not sign with TNA, although he might try out a pay per view event with the company. According to the people that saw this interview the Hardcore Legend was not aware of the rumors of him joining TNA and the truth is that he can not sign with the company until his contract is over (which is already a reality as far as sources say). This basically means that we might see Mick Foley wrestle but it is still not confirmed whether or not a contract with TNA will be signed in the future.

TNA Hard Justice 2008 - My Review

As always, people might or might not agree with what I or anyone else is writing when talking about professional wrestling as there are TNA fans and WWE fans and the fight is on. I must say that I never made a secret of the fact that I enjoy TNA wrestlers more but the WWE does seem to be growing in storyline material and on the whole the competition between the two companies is interesting although WWE is far ahead of TNA at the moment. Leaving that aside I just saw Hard Justice some time ago and wanted to talk about it a little.

First match saw Creed versus Petey Williams for the X Division title. It was a pretty interesting match but the ending did not really satisfy me as Daivari interfereed and caused Petey Williams to retain the title. As expected, this being an X division wrestling match, it was quite entertaining and did make for a good pay per view start. Then we had the knockouts tag team match, one that should have been highly entertaining as the women's wrestling division in TNA is definitely of high quality. Traci Brooks was the special referee, something that I do not remember seeing before until TNA: a woman's wrestling referee. The start of the match was something that wanted to be funny, it was not for me, and then we had the actual wrestling match starting. It was not bad and the TNA Knockouts champion got the pin.

The next was a highly expected tag team match between Robert Roode and James Storm versus LAX for the tag titles. A lot of hype was around this match and Beer Money Inc. is quite catchy. On the other hand I really like LAX and I wanted them to win. This match looked pretty violent and intense and it did keep fans entertained. We did see the Three Amigos, a punch probably towards the Guerrero family and then Roode tried a frog splash that missed. This was the turning point as Hernandez got in and started laying out Beer Money Inc. Then all broke loose as a lot of near falls happened. This wrestling match had an incredibly intense ending, one that was so unexpected. We saw Hernandez execute the Border Toss on Homicide but landing outside the six sided ring on Beer Money Inc. This was not the end as the women got involved as well, together with Hector Guerrero but Beer Money Inc got the win after the beer bottle was broken on Homice as he was going for the Gringo Killer. An incredible tag team wrestling match and new tag team champions.

Next was Sonjay Dutt versus Jay Lethal, all accompanied by a feud story line that was very well built. The wrestling match had special stipulations as the two wrestlers were chained together and wearing a tuxedo. The win should come via pin fall or when one wrestler takes the costume off the other one. Jay Lethal won it via pin fall, quite a good match but without those chains I think it would have been a lot more spectacular. Next came the Jersey Street Fight that saw Team 3D lose the match with Christian Cage and Rhino. It was quite a good match with a frog splash finish. Abyss also appeared and saved Cage and Rhino after the match. Then we had the last man standing wrestling match but with TNA rules, which means that first you have to pin or submit your opponent prior to the referee starting the ten count. AJ won the match but Sting attacked AJ. This was definitely unexpected. The main event saw Samoa Joe defeat Booker T thanks to a guitar hit. It is becoming quite strange but for me it seems that faces use the guitar and heels Sting's baseball bat. This is quite worth a watch. Hard Justice 2008 was a pretty good pay per view in terms of wrestling but I do think it could have been better. Be sure to watch SummerSlam and Edge versus the Undertaker in Hell in a Cell this weekend.

TNA Slammiversary 2008 Review

OK! TNA Slmmiversary is over and I took my time to write my own review because I was a little unsatisfied with it all. The good news is that overall, the wrestling was great, as always with TNA but it felt it had something missing. The first match, Kaz vs Petey Williams was pretty good, just as we would expect from the two. It was obvious that Scott Steiner would get involved but what was not really expected was the end. Petey Williams won, of course, but what was special was the ending that saw Kaz getting beat up and Abyss appearing out of the blue. Then we had the 6 man tag team match that featured the TNA Knockouts, a match that was good but it did feel as simply something extra that needed to be there as the knockouts are popular in wrestling.

Now the next match was one that I wanted to see: LAX vs Team 3D. Needless to say that it is quite special to see LAX with that lovely knockout near them (not to mention she delivered a What's up to Team 3D) and Hector Guerrero of course. As I expected this wrestling match was pretty good with a lot of interference and good double team moves and an ending that was definitely unexpected. Homicide with a quick roll up and LAX maintains the belts.

Awesome Kong then had 2 matches and she also laid out Elvis. That was quite hilarious but the matches against Kong from this invitational are not that entertaining. We basically see Kong destroying every single woman. Now the entire Elvis part was not entertaining at all from my point of view although it is always nice to see that Awesome Bomb delivered. Then we had the wedding with Jay Lethal, something we all knew how it was going to turn out, just like the Edge and Vickie Guererro wedding that will happen in the WWE. Everything was long and the former wrestlers doing it like crazy, including the snake and it all. Not that great but not bad on the whole.

Now the next match was the one that I personally wanted to see: Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles. The entire storyline was well built and these two wrestlers are very good, with a lot of technical skill. We did expect a great match and it was, although it was not the best these two can give. There is the question of whether or not Kurt Angle is 100% but still, by just looking at the entire match we can realize that this is not over. As I expected, AJ Styles won the match after a distraction by Karen Angle. AJ got beat up afterwards but still, a great way to continue a feud.

Next we had the main event: the King of the Mountain match, a very unique one in professional wrestling, one that is sure to be of high quality, no matter what happens. As expected, Kevin Nash got involved in the match but it was all made so that Booker T would have the opening towards a feud with Samoa Joe. Kevin Nash cost Booker the title when he got involved and Samoa Joe retains the title. A pretty good pay per view on the whole but still, I do have the feeling that for a Slammiversary pay per view, TNA could have done better.

Big Show is BACK - Slimer than Ever

It has now been confirmed that The Big Show has signed a contract with the WWE and he will soon come back in the ring according to a source that is close to the Big Show. It seems that everything is arranged and the paperwork was completed while the Big Show is back on the WWE roster. We can expect the wrestler to re-appear soon although we might not get to see the same Big Show as before.

Ever since he left the WWE he has been training and trying to see if he can get in a boxing career. This immediately brought up weight loss and he was sighted at some events and fans said that he indeed lost a lot of weight! There were also rumors that Kurt Angle was supporting the idea of getting the Big Show in TNA, where he would have received the longest winning streak till now but it looks like the wrestler decided to go for the same company, the WWE. It will be very interesting to see him back in the squared ring, especially if he did lose a lot of weight as reported.

Wrestler of the Year 2007: John Cena

Like him or hate him, according to Pro Wrestling Illustrated the wrestler of the year 2007 is WWE's John Cena. Even if his injury is one that does keep him away from the ring a long time, it seems that he has still done enough to make it to the top of the list. In case you want to know, the one that came second is also a professional wrestler in the WWE, Edge. The best wrestler in TNA was of course Kurt Angle, but he was only fourth in the official top of 2007. Also, just in case you are wondering, John Cena is expected to make his return in the ring around Wrestlemania and if he succeeds he will probably go directly after the title, just like Chris Jericho did in his return against Randy Orton. It will be interesting to see whether the WWE will put him as a winner when he goes back for the championship or not. Also, we need to see if he will still be fit but knowing Cena's determination, he will probably be better than ever.

Karen Angle Injured

This came up as a huge surprise for me. I never would have expected such an injury happening in these circumstances. TNA recently launched a text alert through their mobile service in which they stated Karen Angle suffered from a broken foot at the Impact tapings. It seems that the injury was suffered when she landed strangely while she was exiting the TNA six sided ring. People that were there said she needed to be carried backstage and did not return to the ring for the rest of the night, even if Kurt Angle had a match later in the tapings. At first sight everybody believed it was a sprain or break of the ankle although the official term used by TNA was "broken foot". There are no extra details but is still is strange. How can you get a broken foot while exiting the ring? Although she is not a wrestler, she will be needed and this is a considerable loss for TNA and Kurt Angle's character.

Bret Hart Appearing on Raw?

We all know about the problems Bret Hart had in the past with the WWE. This is why it does seem strange for me that Bret The Hitman Hart might appear on the 15th anniversary edition of WWE Raw. According to the Comcast Cable Preview, Bret Hart is listed as appearing on the show. Also, according to DirecTV and TV Guide, the anniversary Raw show will see wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austion, Undertaker, Bret Hart, the McMahon Family, Triple H and Hulk Hogan. There are also rumors that the Rock was supposed to appear on the show but he declined. As far as we know, WWE is trying to get everybody that has been a big superstar in WWE on the show. Too bad there are some wrestlers that have signed contracts with other wrestling federations like Kurt Angle or Diesel (Kevin Nash).

TNA Genesis 2007 Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash vs Sting and Booker T

I did say it before, it was obvious that Booker T was going to be Sting's mistery partner in the main event wrestling match at the TNA Genesis pay per view. On the other hand, we had a nice setting here that saw anybody up for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. We were bound to see an interesting match with a lot of finishers. Actually, we got to see one finisher from each of the wrestlers involved. The TNA audience welcomed Booker T with a standing ovation and we have to see how his career was going to go on here in TNA. That really was a stupid gimmick with King Booker in the WWE. So, the match was nice, I am still wondering if Kevin Nash can still wrestle properly and I think he can although he does look like moving slow and stuff. The wrestling moves he executed were done pretty well. OK, we saw the Jacknife Powerbomb on Booker T, the axe kick by Booker T on Kurt Angle and the Scorpion Death Drop by Sting on Kevin Nash.

Karen Angle kept saying in the entire pay per view that she had everything under control and we got to see what it was all about at the end of the match. The tag team champions, AJ Styles and Tomko came in and Tomko took out Sting while AJ Styles created the diversion. Then Styles gave Angle the belt and he hit Nash with it and then the Olympic Slam on Sting. Sharmell and Karen Angle were involved in a battle outside but this was the end. Kurt Angle is still TNA World Heavyweight Champion and the end of the pay per view saw him celebrate in the middle of the ring with his wife, AJ Styles and Tomko. Christian Cage appeared in the ramp way and look stunned, not understanding what was happening. It will be interesting to see what happens next. We might get to see a stable of Cage, Sting and Booker T (maybe with a surprise join by Nash and a reformation of the NWO Wolfpack - that would be priceless and I am dreaming here of course) or of Kurt Angle, AJ Styles and Tomko. Well, we will see next, good job TNA for a highly entertaining Genesis pay per view main event.

TNA is turning into WCW

I think everyone is noticing this and I am not the only one watching wrestling that is old enough to remember World Championship Wrestling. I mean, the main at TNA Genesis 2007 saw 3 wrestlers that were high on the ladder of popularity in WCW: Sting, Kevin Nash and Booker T. Everybody I think realized that Booker T was Sting's mistery partner so I am not going to discuss that. TNA told enough to let everybody know who he was but without actually mentioning the name Booker T. Kurt Angle is the only one that is true WWE in TNA and this says a lot. WWE managed to get Jeff Hardy but that is about it. I can not think of any other wrestler that WWE got from TNA while the other way around is much more obvious. It is enough to mention Dustin Rhodes, now transformed into Black Reign. He will probably never get inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame for this move. We also have Kurt Angle, the wrestler that is probably the best in the world one it comes to how technical he is. I mean he almost delivered a perfect 450 degrees splash on the last pay per view and that says a lot. Then Christian Cage came to TNA, another blow to WWE and at Genesis he was in a ladder match. We all know the Edge and Christian ladder matches. We see Kevin Nash, good old Diesel, looking a little old but I still think he can wrestle and this is just a gimmick.

Then we are talking about the former Dudley Boys, who doesn't remember them? The Steiner Brothers. I still remember the feuds between the Steiners and the tag team of Sting and Lex Luger. What more is there to say? We are clearly witnessing a revival of World Championship Wrestling through TNA. We even had Scott Hall in (remember the Outsiders and the New World Order). It seems like good wrestlers are leaving the WWE and coming towards TNA. The wrestlers with more experience are coming to TNA. The main event at Genesis meant that the 4 fighters held over 40 belts in their careers. Only one thing would be more of a shock than Jericho possibly appearing in TNA and that would be somebody like Shawn Michaels or the Undertaker joining TNA, although that will never happen. Too bad for Jeff Hardy though, he might be a champ now but he is more suited for the TNA style. Well, as I said before, WCW is coming back to life through TNA and I am curious what will happen next.

Well, we just had a chance to take a look at the most sold Recreational Sports DVDs according to Billboard and here is the list:

We basically have a lot of WWE DVDs and some Ultimate Fighting DVDs. Unfortunately for TNA it seems that only Christian Cage has a DVD that is popular enough. Well, TNA is still a lot smaller than the WWE even if they have wrestlers like Sting, Kurt Angle or Christian Cage on the roster.

Sting Wins TNA Title

Well, this was the main event of Bound For Glory and should have been the best match. It was not, but it was still a dream match. We had Kurt Angle, probably the best technical wrestler in the business square off against a wrestling legend, "The Icon" Sting and it was bound to be big. We saw Sting win his second world title in TNA at their biggest pay-per-view, Bound for Glory, for two years in a row. Last year he won against Jeff Jarett and now against Kurt Angle, both being the top heels of TNA at the given points in time. It is also quite interesting since Kurt Angle was built by TNA management as an unstoppable force this year, even owning 4 championship belts at the same time. Now we need to see what will come next. Kurt Angle will probably get another title shot, I just hope it will be at a pay-per-view and it was also rumored that Kevin Nash will return to wrestling after signing a new contract with TNA. Samoa Joe's win over Christian Cage might also put him in contender spot. It has been rumored that at TNA Genesis we were going to see a fatal four way between Kevin Nash, Samoa Joe, Sting and Kurt Angle. It was also rumored that this will be the last year of Sting's legendry career in professional wrestling so we might just see him lose the title or retire as the champion. There are many possibilities here, even a possible feud between Kevin Nash and Kurt Angle but that would leave Sting with no real valuable contender for the world title. I can't wait to see what happens.
